Built in 1862, The Apothecary is thought to be the oldest double-storey mudbrick building still standing in the Southern Hemisphere. The house has led an interesting life; it’s been a draper's store and stationery supply shop and was the chemist during early gold-rush days. Sleeps 8 comfortably - linen and towels provided. A logburner with ample supply of wood ensures cosiness during cold winter months. Enjoy holiday 'must-haves' such as Scrabble, puzzles, books, music and a great video library. The quiet, enclosed courtyard is a wind-free sun-trap - and a ready-to-use gas barbeque is stored in the shed. Situated in Naseby's historic precinct, The Apothecary stands opposite the district museum, the watchmaker's shop and the Ancient Briton Hotel. My long-term vision for the house is that it becomes a creative, collaborative space, facilitating interdisciplinary exchange. |
